One Council, One Baker, One Cookie Program!

The Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley in cooperation with its sister councils from Cannon Valley, Greater Minneapolis, Peacepipe, and River Trails are excited to announce a major council realignment decision. For the 2008 Cookie Program, all five councils have signed one contract with one baker, Little Brownie Bakers.

Choosing one cookie baker was a tough decision as both bakers are extremely capable and obviously committed to serving Girl Scouts. The decision was not made lightly. The process was transparent and began with both bakers delivering a presentation to a Girl Scout group consisting of staff, volunteer, and girl representatives from all five councils. Based on thoughtful analysis of the feedback and input from the participants, council CEOs were authorized to negotiate contracts with the bakers.

"We know that the essential life skills learned through the Cookie Program last far beyond the cookie season," said Tom Hilt, VP of Sales with Little Brownie Bakers. "Together we have an opportunity to re-imagine the Cookie Program with powerful new experiences for girls, volunteers, and staff that will raise the visibility of Girl Scouting across the southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin area."

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the nation's premier entrepreneurial program for girls. Through the annual Cookie Program, Girl Scouts will continue to learn and practice business leadership skills, including money management, team work, customer service, public speaking, and much more.

Eight varieties of Girl Scout cookies will continue to be offered in 2008, including a yet-to-be-named new lemon cookie, and a new sugar-free cookie. The other six named Little Brownie Bakers cookie varieties are: Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, and All Abouts. The cookie price will be $3.50 per package for all five councils.

Girl Scout councils will work together with Little Brownie Bakers to form a special CEO Operational Integration Task Group – Cookies. The task force will include staff, volunteers, and girls from all five councils to bring together the best practices and processes from all programs to create one amazing Cookie Program.

For additional updates and information regarding realignment and the 2008 Cookie Program, please visit the council Web site by clicking here, or if you have any comments or suggestions to share with the CEO Operational Integration Task Group – Cookies, please email cookieprogram2008@girlscoutscv.org.

Please note: This email communication was sent to members of the cookie steering committee, all council service unit managers, service unit cookie coordinators, troop/group cookie managers, and cookie cupboard and booth sale coordinators for which we have their current email addresses. In order to best reach all registered council volunteers, a similar email blast will be sent out tomorrow to all council volunteers that we have their current email addresses, as well as a printed letter that will be sent US mail.
